As is mentioned over at DJ München blog, the Holleschek party was the loudest sauna in Munich last night.
The venue was at the intersection of Maximilianstraße and Thomas Wimmerstraße in what appeared, at least to me, to be an old U-Bahn station or subterranean mall.
When standing in the long que (that moved really quickly, thank god) I overheard people behind me talking about the dude who organizes these parties. From what I gathered it’s supposedly some guy who does not really make a lot of cash out of these things but throws them anyway because he simply gets a kick out of organizing rocking parties. I’m intrigued and would like to more.
The sound was incredible, the lights were good and the service at the bar was hot and pretty efficient. As a whole the party was almost too good. There were so many people that moving around was stressful and the thought of having to make ones way through the thousands to the bar or to the toilet was despairing. The ventilation was very poor and only fans which blew intermittently prevented it from being a disaster. People were sweating so much that beer bottles were slipping out of their hands. Halfway through the night (which was when I left because it was just too damn hot) the whole floor was a wet puddle glinting with jagged pieces of glass. My thoughts are with anyone who for some reason fell down last night.
The crowd was a good mix of ages and how some people were really getting down to some dirty dancing surprised me. Pictures of the lovelies can be seen over at clubstars.net. DJs Jens Witzig and Simon Rose certainly had their moments but at one point someone, I guess either Jens or Simon decided to play mash ups of 90s hip-hop hits. Bad move. Mash up’s almost always mean the DJ is out of ideas. Maybe I’m being too hard on them, because for the most part, the music did rock.
Bottom line: I’ll definitely be at the next Holleschek, but I’ll be wearing thick soled shoes, rubber grip-gloves and maybe a sauna towel.
